Biography
Plastic Artist
“I believe that the most intense, most exalting and at the same time purest pleasure lies in the contemplation of the beautiful, that intense and pure elevation of the soul”
Always attracted by people and their culture, I have developed my painting in an attempt to peek into the being, their experiences and the geography where they develop. My inspiration comes from memories, photographs, trips taken, places visited, which I capture as a record of their diversity and everyday life. Landscapes seen like those of Southeast Asia invite you to immerse yourself among rice fields, oxen and hats. Buenos Aires and its cafes, its bohemian life, its sunsets. The Andean plateau, its markets and its walkers. Massachusetts and its snows, its ports. Colombia, a country of constant smiles, inviting smells, picturesque mixes and colorful festivities.
In my painting the explosion of color is a constant, color as a meaning of belief, color multiplied by strength, its intensity, my will as an artist. It is a game of encounters and confrontations where marked contrasts come together. In my technique I play with the material emphasizing the expressive capacity of the gaze, the sensuality of the lips, the richness of the skin, each stroke of the brush results in a color and a shape that creates emotions and modifies this exercise. Frequently the backgrounds are flat and dark to enhance the energy of the color, express the contrast to awaken a mood, other times, on the contrary, the figures merge with the background in a very particular interpretation of tenebrism, but without a hint of drama, simply limiting itself to the tranquility of the scene. Ultimately my goal is the contemplation and joy of the viewer, they are ultimately the reward of a calm mind and the joy of the artist himself.
